香山位于北京郊区西山东麓，距离市区25公里。香山公园面积达160公顷，最高峰海拔557米。
香山是北京著名的风景区，在其周边就有“香山公园”、“中科院植物园”、“卧佛寺公园”、“北京植物园”等公园，香山红叶是秋季北京的主要游览项目。
主要景观：
    东门：也称东宫门，是香山公园的正门。原东宫门的历史遗迹已经不复存在，现在所见的是新翻修的大门，清代乾隆皇帝所题的匾额“静宜园”悬挂于门楣之上。
   “西山晴雪”碑：金代命名的“燕京八景”之一。清代在此立有“西山晴雪”碑，誉此地为冬季赏雪的绝佳之地。
    昭庙：始建于清代乾隆四十五年（1780年），是一座大型藏式喇嘛庙。主要由牌坊、虹台和琉璃塔组成。
    见心斋：始建于明代嘉靖元年（1522年），清代予以重修。这里是保存教好的一处古迹，为香山之内的"园中之园"。
    香山索道：架设于北门至香炉峰顶，全长近千米，分为上、中、下三站。

    I havenot practised my english for a long time,finding my english is becoming poorer and poorer. I spent quite a few time preparing for the English speaking contest.However, I was cruelly eliminated before I can go further. I didnot do to my best that day for they did not inform candidates of the exact contest time.And,when the teacher abruptly announced that the contest would be held that afternoon,I just can hardly remember up my lecture. Also,there were other candidates who were too nervous to speak. 
    For me,I just feel it a pity for I failed doing something that I could do better. What I can do is to work hard to elvate myself. To be a all-round person, I just need more practice, as an old saying: practice makes perfect!
    A very useful sentence: Now or never. If you want success,go ahead and pursue your dream.Be active,because no chance will befallen to you unless you chase them positively. That's what I have learned from PB season3 episode 7th.
    The following is my lecture.Many mistakes can be found in it.

    Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I am very excited to be here for this English speaking contest. However, what I want is not to win a prize but to share my thoughts and practice my English.
    Now, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Liuwei. I am 24 years old. I come from Fujian Province. In my spare time, I like playing badminton and football. Also, English is my favorite. I often watch English original films.
    It’s known to all that China will bid for the 29th Olympic Games. “Green Olympic” is one of the three themes of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. This theme will not only promote the Olympics spirits, communicate the Green Olympics concept, but also popularize the environment knowledge, raise the environmental awareness of the citizens, and motivated more people to join in the actions for the Green Olympics.
    In my point of view, to fulfill the historical mission of an Olympics host country, we should treasure the precious opportunity to stage the Olympic Games, make great efforts to enhance civilization and morality level and actively participate in the Green Action.
    Well, what can we do as a student? First, we should avoid using unrenewable things, such as white plastic bags, one-off cups and chopsticks. Second, it is reasonable for us to dispose rubbish according to waste classification, which makes recycling renewable resources easy.
    Just like Doctor Jane Goodall said:” Every individual matters; every individual has role to play; every individual makes difference.” We should try our best to promote this concept to people around us. And I believe that everyone of us should advocate “Green Olympics” and do from trivial matters to protect our environment.
    The 2008 Olympic Games will be a green and unique Olympics.

咬定青山不放松，立根原在破岩中。
千磨万击还坚劲，任尔东西南北风。
[注释] 1. 《竹石》是一首题画诗。
2. 咬定：比喻根扎得结实，像咬着不松口一样。
3. 磨：折磨。坚劲：坚定强劲。
4. 尔：那。这句意思说：随那东南西北风猛刮，也吹不倒它。
[解说] 这是一首寓意深刻的题画诗。首二句说竹子扎根破岩中，基础牢固。次二句说任凭各方来的风猛刮，竹石受到多大的磨折击打，它们仍然坚定强劲。作者在赞美竹石的这种坚定顽强精神中，隐寓了自己风骨的强劲。“千磨万击还坚劲，任尔东西南北风”，常被用来形容革命者在斗争中的坚定立场和受到敌人打击决不动摇的品格。
